The dCS Varèse Music System represents the British HiFi brand’s most advanced audio solution to date, featuring a striking and tactile design that showcases innovative technology and precise engineering.

A Bold Vision Realized

Experience unparalleled realism and immersive sound with the Varèse Music System, a creation born from bold innovation and meticulous design.

Varèse employs a unique architecture engineered for absolute fidelity and unmatched precision. Its bespoke technologies push performance boundaries, delivering sound quality previously thought unattainable.

Radical Innovation

Varèse represents dCS’s most ambitious project, the result of years of research focused on enhancing the listening experience for future generations. The engineering team developed new protocols and groundbreaking processes to redefine audio performance and system intuitiveness.

Inside the Varèse System

The Varèse Music System is composed of five key components: the Core, two Mono DACs (one for each audio channel), a User Interface, and a Master Clock. A dedicated remote control and the dCS Mosaic ACTUS app enhance user interaction, while a CD/SACD Transport is slated for release next year.

Leveraging proprietary technologies such as dCS Tomix (a patented clocking protocol) and ACTUS (a unified audio, control, and timing interface), the Varèse introduces groundbreaking mechanical and electronic innovations. These include the Differential Ring DAC, redesigned power supplies, and advanced circuit design, which collectively reduce jitter, increase linearity, lower noise floors, and eliminate crosstalk.

Mono DACs and Differential Ring DAC Technology

The Varèse Mono DACs transform digital signals into analog with unmatched accuracy. Each DAC features a Differential Ring DAC with 96 current sources per channel, twice the number found in previous designs. By operating in a differential mode, this configuration enhances harmonic performance, improves linearity, and lowers the noise floor.

All DAC operations are unified on a single circuit board, following principles established with the Lina Network DAC. The Tomix protocol ensures the Mono DACs remain perfectly synchronized for precise left and right channel timing.

Advanced Power Supply Design

The power supplies in the Mono DACs include dual-optimized transformers for analog and digital sections. Enhanced regulators reduce magnetostriction and mechanical hum, while refined power sequencing provides greater control and noise reduction.

A New Standard in Digital Playback

The Varèse system reflects dCS’s relentless pursuit of audio excellence. Listeners have reported an expansive soundstage, refined timing, richer textures, and deeper bass, resulting in a performance where sound possesses a palpable, life-like presence.

Streamlined User Experience

The system’s intuitive interface simplifies setup and operation. dCS ACTUS cables provide a single-connection solution for audio, control, and timing signals, enhancing system reliability and performance.

The system is Roon Ready, offering seamless integration with the popular music management platform.
