Tonearm Risers
This post is primarily for vinyl enthusiasts. It’s no secret that some turntable models lack an automatic tonearm lift mechanism when a record reaches the end of playback.
For owners, this can be somewhat inconvenient. If you step away or fall asleep (yes, it happens!), your turntable will keep spinning the vinyl endlessly. The result? Premature wear on both the stylus and the record.
So, what can you do in this situation? I’ve discovered a few manufacturers offering relatively affordable solutions to this issue. Check out the post to learn more about the options they provide.
I’m planning to buy one of these mechanisms myself, as my REGA Planar 3 Turntable Rega Research Ltd. (an amazing turntable, by the way) also lacks an automatic tonearm lift.
I hope this post helps you find a solution that works for you!
Q UP Raiser
The Q UP is a high-precision device that safely lifts your tonearm at the end of the record. The Q UP can be installed in minutes, without tools, and is designed to fit on most manual turntables. The Q UP can be configured for various tonearm heights, thicknesses, and shapes based upon a trigger and lift design, now reborn and modernized to work with classic or contemporary turntable/tonearm combinations. The Q UP only interacts with the tonearm at the end of the record and does NOT adversely affect the tonal quality of your system in any way. There is no need to worry about falling asleep with your record playing or forgetting it is playing if you get distracted.

The Q UP should fit at least one OR all of their models. If you are not sure then please refer to the template for verification.

The raiser is equipped with a highly sensitive release antenna and a hydraulic lift with a rubber lift bar, ensuring safe, smooth, and dependable operation. Height adjustment knob and included spacers allow the raiser to be used with a wide variety of turntables with different tonearm heights.
Among Audio-Technica turntables, the AT6006R is compatible only with the AT-LP5, AT-LP5X, and AT-LP7 (the positioning of the tonearm assembly on other A-T models prevents the use of the raiser).

LITTLE FWEND
A Serious Turntable Deserves Thoughtful Protection
A true audiophile turntable is almost always manual. That’s where Little Fwend comes in — a 100% mechanical tonearm lift designed to gently raise your stylus at the end of a record, protecting both your cartridge and your peace of mind without ever affecting sound quality.
Since 2016, Little Fwend has been a trusted companion for vinyl enthusiasts. Whether safeguarding rare cartridges from unnecessary wear or simply sparing listeners from the endless run-out groove, it’s a smart, elegant solution for any setup.
Even the most attentive listeners can get distracted — a drifting thought, a phone call, or, let’s be honest, falling asleep in the listening room. And then there’s the nightmare scenario: hours of accumulated dust causing a stylus to lose track, only to grind against the label. Imagine that happening with a prized Koetsu or Lyra cartridge.
One customer shared how Little Fwend saved his Air Tight PC-1. Hours from home, he realized he’d left his stereo on. Returning days later, he found his tube amps still glowing and the turntable spinning, but thanks to Little Fwend, the stylus was safely lifted — no harm done.
With a typical stylus lifespan of 1,000 to 2,000 hours, premature wear can mean costly re-tipping and frustrating downtime. Protect your investment and your listening experience with Little Fwend — because peace of mind is priceless.
